Taking place on Thursday, 10 June at 11:30am, University College Dublin's agriculture, food science and human nutrition virtual summer school 2021 is an overview of the various opportunities and expertise available at UCD's school of agriculture and food science.

The event will be hosted by Klaudia Szarzankiewicz and Sean Baker; two third year food and agribusiness management students. A range of speakers will present during the event, including Professor Tommy Boland of UCD Lyons farm and Dr Daniel Hurley from the UCD institute of food and health. Dr Caroline Elliot-Kingston, programme director of UCD's horticulture degree, will welcome attendees to UCD's environmental research station: a state-of-the-art facility located on the Belfield campus, which supports teaching and a number of learning programmes.

Experiences

In addition, Fiona Sweeney from the UCD access and lifelong learning office will provide information on alternative entry routes and support available to students. Aoife Byrne, a lecturer in food and agribusiness management will discuss the importance of food and agriculture to the economy.

Previous students from various undergraduate paths will be there discussing their experiences studying at UCD.

A live interactive quiz will also be run throughout the event where prizes will be available and all students considering a career in agriculture, food or human nutrition can ask any questions.
