At a ceremony at the Green Isle hotel in Dublin on Tuesday evening, the winners of the 10 top positions were announced as:

  • James and Carmel Croke, Co Tipperary

  • Seamus Corrigan, Co Tipperary
  • Joseph Gohery, Co Galway
  • Noel and Anne Jennings, Co Cork
  • Ciaran Kelly, Co Galway
  • David Jones, Co Cork
  • Humphrey O’Leary, Co Kerry
  • Matthew Quigley, Co Monaghan
  • Andrew Wilson, Co Leitrim
  • James Young, Co Cork

    • These winners were selected from the 500 best-performing dairy farmers in Ireland in terms of SCC, who all received a plaque to mark their achievement on their farm. They are all within a range of 37,000 cells/ml to 97,000 cells/ml, AHI reported recently.

    Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney attended the event and congratulated the winners, hailing a “hat-trick from Cork”.

    AHI chief executive Joe O’Flaherty said that a 10% reduction in SCC would save the Irish dairy industry €38m per year.
