Following a successful show in Cavan last week, Eddie Moloney was back in the ribbons, when he won the Balcombes Claims Management and DPL Group 1.35m Autumn Grand Prix at Wexford Equestrian last Sunday.
Riding Cruicerath Flexianna, he delivered a double clear in 34.03. The nine-year-old mare is owned by TSI Equestrian and is by Flexible and out of the Holland-sired dam, Pannamarenca.
This combination have proven very consistent this year, recording numerous placings and winning the Mervue Equine Leinster Summer Tour.
They have moved up the levels together, competing in the World Young Horse Show Jumping Championships at Lanaken as a five-year-old and as a seven-year-old in the international class at the Dublin Horse Show. This mare also featured in a number of the aged classes on the national circuit and now have accumulated over 300 Showjumping Ireland points.
A clear round in a time of 36.43 saw Edward Doyle Jnr finish second with Cruise Mor. Bred by Kildare man Peadar Byrne, this eight-year-old mare is by Furisto Diamond and out of the Cruising-sired dam, Ballynahia Cruise.
This combination have recorded a lot of good results this season, including finishing third in the seven and eight-year-old championship at the Irish Breeders Classic, numerous placings in the 1.35m Mervue Equine Leinster Tour and sixth in the National Grand Prix in Coilog.
National Grand Prix Champion, Liam O’Meara, was fractions behind with Russel Style (36.49) for third. Bred by Eamon Kenny from Laois and owned by Liam’s wife Helen,
Russel Style is a nine-year-old gelding, by Russel and out of a Harlequin Du Carel-sired dam Cruisings Carol.
One horse stepping up to the mark is Longfield Quinlui (ISH). Ridden by his owner Derek McConnell, this seven-year-old mare put in another solid performance when keeping all the poles in place in 37.84 for fourth place. Bred by Seamus Drea, she is by Quintender (HOLST) out of Dshlyi (ISH) by Luidam (KWPN).
Thomas Foley was the fastest of the four faulters riding Kingsborough Verdiva, he stopped the clock in 34.58 to claim fifth place.
Bred by Cliodhna Carroll and owned by Foley, this nine-year-old mare is by Verdi and out of the Highroller-sired dam Macushla Roller. Her dam was campaigned by her owner Fran Elizabeth Rush in the amateur ranks. This is the second good result for this pair in the league, having finished sixth at Mullingar.
Eddie Moloney took another share of the prize fund when he had four faults with Andiamix Hero Z in 37.07 to complete the line-up in sixth place.Owned by Caroline Telsch the nine-year-old gelding is by Aganix du Seigneur and is out of the Andiamo Z-sired dam, Boetia Hero.
