There are thousands to choose from across my collection of published photographs. The winner has to be this scene of a wise old pony Sianlee Picasso and his owner Jane Gibbons having a paddle at the end of Louisburgh Show. It’s the most picture postcard-perfect show setting. It’s beautiful on this summer day in 2015 for sure, but Wild Atlantic Way winters truly show the resilience of Irish farmers and fishermen.
And finally, it’s set in the place where the then-minister Michael Ring first announced a funding package from the Department of Rural and Community Development for Irish agricultural shows; a lifeline before, during and after the pandemic. \Susan Finnerty.
