  • Cashmerino in ecru.
  • Pair 2.75mm knitting needles.
  • 2 buttons.

    • Tension

  • 28 sts and 37 rows to 10cm square over st st using 2.75mm needles.

    • Right bootee

  • With 2.75mm needles, cast on 36 sts.
  • K 1 row.
  • 1st row (right side) K1, yf, k16, yf, [k1, yf] twice, k16, yf, k1.
  • 2nd and all wrong side rows K to end, working k1 tbl into each yf of previous row.
  • 3rd row K2, yf, k16, yf, k2, yf, k3, yf, k16, yf, k2.
  • 5th row K3, yf, k16, yf, [k4, yf] twice, k16, yf, k3.
  • 7th row K4, yf, k16, yf, k5, yf, k6, yf, k16, yf, k4.
  • 9th row K5, yf, k16, yf, [k7, yf] twice, k16, yf, k5.
  • 11th row K22, yf, k8, yf, k9, yf, k22. 64 sts.
  • 12th row As 2nd row.
  • K 12 rows.
  • Shape instep
  • Next row K36, skpo, turn.
  • Next row Sl 1, p8, p2tog, turn.
  • Next row Sl 1, k8, skpo, turn.
  • Rep the last 2 rows 5 times more, then work first of the 2 rows again.
  • Next row Sl 1, k to end.
  • Next row K19, k2tog, k8, skpo, k19. 48 sts.
  • Next row K9, leave these sts on a holder, cast off one st, [slip the st now on right-hand needle back onto left-hand needle, cast on 2 sts, cast off 4 sts] 14 times, slip the st back onto left-hand needle, cast on 2 sts, cast off 3 sts, k to end, leave these 9 sts on a holder.
  • Join sole and back heel seam.
  • With wrong side facing and 2.75mm needles, k across 18 sts on holder for ankle strap. **
  • Next row Cast on 4 sts, k to end, turn and cast on 22 sts.
  • Buttonhole row K1, skpo, yf, k to end.
  • K 2 rows.
  • Cast off.
  • Sew on button.

    • Left bootee

  • Work as given for right bootee to **.
  • Next row Cast on 22 sts, k to end, turn and cast on 4 sts.
  • Buttonhole row K to last 3 sts, yf, k2tog, k1.
  • Complete as right bootee. CL
