Glanmire Macra na Feirme from Seandun, Co Cork, won the National Dairy Council All-Ireland volleyball final on 9 April after they defeated Dunmanway Macra na Feirme from Carbery, Co Cork, at the final held in the Watershed Sports Complex, Kilkenny.
It was a strong performance from Glanmire who topped their group before defeating Kilkenny’s Callan in the semi-final.
Speaking after the event, Macra na Feirme national president Seán Finan said: “Congratulations to Glanmire Macra na Feirme on becoming national volleyball champions. This is a fantastic sport and it’s great to see 16 teams taking part on the day. Sport is such a vital part of rural community life and through the strong participation in all our competitions we see it is alive and well in Macra and with the support of the National Dairy Council we plan to keep it that way.’’
