Comment: IFA national pigs committee chair Pat O’Flaherty said prices on the domestic market remained stable. Farmers are requesting that any pick-up in trade is immediately reflected in a price lift to producers. The UK market is starting to strengthen this week on the back of tighter supplies. Across the continent, Germany and Belgium added 5c to producer prices. At this week’s Council of Ministers meeting in Brussels, the Commission announced a number of support measures including a new APS scheme, a meat market observatory tool, additional funding for promotion and continued efforts to lift the Russian ban.
