Ivan Scott appears to be on a roll, breaking another record last weekend. The Donegal man shore 820 sheep in nine hours at Ballinrobe Racecourse, Co Mayo, on Saturday.
He spent an average of 39.51 seconds catching and shearing each sheep, with some animals taking him only 20 seconds.
There were two one-hour meal breaks and two half-hour tea breaks during the day. The previous Irish ewe record was 483, set by George Graham from Gorey, Co Wexford, in 1997. Scott, 35, is planning a bid on New Zealand shearer Dion King’s world solo nine-hour crossbred lambs record of 866 in Cornwall on 29 July.
