A 35ac non-residential farm on the outskirts of Castlecomer, Co Kilkenny is new to the market and heads for public auction in March.

Situated at Stoneyroad, Loon, the farm listed with Joseph Coogan Auctioneers, is 5km northeast of Castlecomer and is a short distance from the R426 road that leads to Clogh.

Described as prime grazing land, it is all in one block and has road frontage onto a local road. It’s divided into four large fields by mature trees and hedgerows and the land has excellent stock proof fencing and a natural water supply.

A laneway leads from the public road to a farmyard that contains accommodation for approximately 150 store cattle. Centrally located on the property, the yard contains a number of structures including slatted and straw bedded sheds, a cattle crush and an enclosed three-bay round roof hay shed with sliding doors.

With good road access and slurry storage on-site, this farm could be a useful addition as a heifer rearing and silage operation for an existing dairy farm or for a drystock enterprise.

The quality of the lands and its state of readiness should bring a cohort of bidders and is expected to make between €10,000 to €12,000/ac.
