Guidenstown Farm, a 130ac farm with a farmyard, derelict period house and forestry, was sold at auction by Sherry Fitzgerald Country Homes on Thursday 16 November.
Guided at €1,350,000 ahead of auction, a number of bidding parties battled it out before the hammer fell at €1,700,000, which equates to just over €13,000/acre. Speaking after the sale at the Killashee Hotel, Naas, auctioneer Phillip Guckian reported competitive bidding on all lots.
Ultimately, it sold in the entire. He added: “This was a great result and shows that the market and demand for good farms is still very much there.”
All in one block, approximately 102ac is described as good quality land under pasture, well drained and with mature hedging. The balance of the land consists of forestry - predominantly beech, oak and spruce.
Along with the land, the farm also has a derelict period house, large galvanised sheds and a farmyard with silage pits and a cattle crush.
The farm is on Dunmurry Hill, 6km from Kildare town with access to the M7 motorway.
