Sold in two lots, 250ac of the finest Royal county land went under the hammer for a combined total of €4.9m at auction on Wednesday last, 27 November.

Witnessed by a good crowd in the Ardboyne Hotel, Navan and online, joint agents Raymond Potterton Auctioneers and Lydon Farrell Property conducted the sale of the lands at Dunderry, Co Meath. Both were guided at €14,000 prior to auction.

Lot 1, a 206ac non-residential farm at Meadstown opened at €2.7m with bids of €50,000 to €100,000 being placed until it reached €3.8m.

At this point, auctioneer, Stephen Barry was instructed to place the land on the market and with no further bids, it sold for €3.8m. This equates to €18,447/ac. It was bought by an agricultural buyer.

The 43.5ac block of land contains a four-bay hay shed with lean-to.

Lot 2 contained 43ac including a shed at Moymet opened at €650,000 and rose in increments of €50,000 to €75,000 before the gavel finally fell at €1.1m. This equates to €25,581/ac. The purchaser was a local farmer.

All bidders were well versed in agriculture and Stephen Barry of Raymond Potterton Auctioneers reported many bidders present had deposits paid.
