Purchasing sheep at any stage of the year presents biosecurity challenges. The risk is even greater in purchasing in-lamb, given the potential for disease spread during lambing.
Where ewes are being purchased, it is important to implement tight biosecurity measures. Effort should be made, where possible, to keep ewes isolated from the main flock until after lambing.
The general measures such as fluke dosing, administration of vaccines, footbathing and external parasite control are vital to implement to treat on arrival to the farm.
