Wexford shearer Roy Collier is attempting to set a new nine-hour lamb shearing record in Camolin, Co Wexford. The record attempt, taking place next Saturday 1 August, is also raising funds for the Laura Lynn and Jack and Jill foundations. Shearing will take place between 6.30am and 6.30pm, with Roy hoping to shear 600 lambs. The shearing will be monitored and judged by Irish Sheep Shearers Association (ISSA) judges.
There is a strong line-up of additional events starting from midday onwards that promises to cater for a range of interests. This includes a speed shear competition at 7pm with some of the country’s top shearers competing, sheepdog trials, barbecue and music and kids entertainment including a teddybear shear, face painting and bouncing castles.
