Seed barley growers for Boortmalt are deeply unhappy with proposed pricing changes. It wants to pay a bonus over feed price for seed barley instead of a bonus over malt.

IFA grain chair Mark Browne said: “Basic seed is grown to the highest specifications, and should receive the best of prices. Boortmalt has been market leaders in this regard, and we want other grain buyers to pay more for seed crops, not for Boortmalt to cut their prices.”
