Another Stage is the perfect showcase for the Ulster singer who has been involved in the music scene for more than 40 years. It is a delightful mix of country, folk and showband material and is certain to bring the music of Ed to a whole new audience.

Ed Sweeney was a member of The Trend, a Derry-based showband that emerged on the scene in 1969. Country music featured as a major part of their repertoire and they entertained overseas military bases in places such as Germany and Italy. Around the mid-1970s, a number of the band left these shores for Canada, where they spent many years in the music business.

It was a long-time ambition of Ed’s to record his own album. Another Stage was recorded under the superb guidance of Paul McNeilly in his Pinegrove Studios in Ballymena. Country classics featured include the Tennessee Flat Top Box, Jambalaya, Hey It’s Good To Be Back Home Again, I Wonder How The Old Folks Are At Home and Waltz Across Texas With You.

There is a lovely version of the Roseville Fair, while Ed also includes a true jewel from the folk tradition of Derry with The Gem Of The Roe.

The Irish scene is covered with Birthplace Donegal and The Village of Asdee, while he reconnects with the showband era with a catchy rendition of Old Man Trouble, a chart-topping song for Doc Carroll and The Royal Blues back in 1966.

For those who love to sit back and relax, unwind and listen to some great songs and music, this is truly a special album. Ed Sweeney has honoured the music scene here in Ireland with the release of this collection. It deserves major airplay on shows all over the country.
