ABP Bandon has come to an agreement with protesting farmers to allow killing to take place next Monday.

The signed agreement means that the visiting Chinese delegation can witness animals being slaughtered, fulfilling the purpose of their trip to Ireland.

Similar agreements have seen inspections take place on Friday in Dawn Grannagh and ABP Ferrybank today, and previously at ABP Cahir and Meadow Meats Rathdowney.

Agreement

Up to 236 cattle will be allowed into the plant between 5am and 9am on Monday morning 30 August.

Under the agreement, no other cattle will enter the plant between now and Monday morning.

The by-product produced will be allowed to leave the premises on Tuesday in non-refrigerated trailers before 9am.

Maintenance works contractors will be allowed entry, as will one empty refrigerated container.

The detailed agreement also allowed for five refrigerated trailers to be allowed entry on Friday, but no other such trailers will be allowed in before Monday.

Similarly, seven refrigerated trailers are being allowed out of the Bandon ABP plant on Friday, but no other such trailers will be allowed out over the weekend.
