The society is coming off the back off a very busy summer show season with Limousin calves performing very well in both commercial and pedigree rings.

Commercial Limousin weanlings have also been selling well with breeding heifers in especially high demand from suckler farmers this autumn.

The highlight of the Limousin pedigree sales calendar is the annual autumn show and sale of bulls that takes place in Roscrea mart each autumn.

This year’s sale will take place on Monday 28 October and will attract some of the country’s top bulls. The society will also hold a bull sale in Athenry mart on Saturday 14 December.

The Lisna herd owned by Dermot Shaughnessy had a very successful production sale in Gort mart last week with the sale seeing a top price of €6500 for Lisna Top of the Pops sired by Tomshchoice Lexicon.

Saturday 14 August see the Roundhill herd owned by Doreen Corridan and the Castleview herd owned by Sean O Sullivan hold their 10th genetic advantage sale in Roscrea mart.

The sale kicks off at 1pm and will have 27 lots from the Roundhill herd, 23 lots from the Castleview herd and 1 lot from the Ballybrown herd of Bobby O Connell.

The sale will also include a number of embryo lots and semen lots.

The sale will be broadcast live on martbids.ie and online bidding is available via the Martbids app.
