The trade picked up on Saturday’s vibrant heifer sale, with over 22% of cows selling in excess of €2,500 and the sale entry of over 320 cows averaging €3/kg.
With weather lowering entries by 50%, any slaughter-fit cattle on offer in Ennis Mart on Thursday had a long list of suitors, with heifers and cows selling to upwards of €3.40/kg.
Heavy U grading cows exceeded the €3/kg mark, with a selection of excellent-quality cows weighing in excess of 800kg selling from €2,500 to a top of €2,980.
