Factories have moved to manage the beef kill in the last seven days, with some farmers now experiencing delays of up to 10 days in getting cattle killed. Cattle supplies remain very tight and are expected to get tighter in the weeks ahead – and it’s thought this is one of the reasons factories are spreading out supplies.

Last week’s kill was back over 7,000 head on the same week in 2025. Quotes have remained steady, despite some factories trying to quote less this week. Bullock base prices remain at €7.00-€7.10/kg, while heifers continue to trade at €7.10-€7.20/kg. Cows remain in demand, with R-grading cows commanding quotes of €6.80/kg this week.

NI beef quotes were a little easier this week, back 2p/kg across the board. Fleshed cows continue to command as high as €4/kg in mart rings.
