Once again, demand was strong right across the board, as 84% of the 43 on bulls on offer sold to an average of €6,233, up over €170 on last year's sale.
Trade was just as brisk for the females, which consisted of a consignment from the Cross herd in Co Mayo, as 12 out of the 13 heifers in the yard sold to an average of €5,154.
Judge for the pre-sale show was Sarah McElligot from Co Kerry and her placings were vindicated in the sale ring, as her senior champion, reserve senior champion and junior champion bulls achieved the three highest prices on the night.
Overall champion
For her overall champion, she went for the Pabo Rocknroll son Currycramp Vivian, bred and exhibited by Tom Mulligan and family from Co Leitrim.
Born in June 2024, Vivian's dam Currycramp Rachel combines combines Norman Inventor and Ardlea Dan.
A carrier of both the F94L and the Q204X genes, he came to auction with a four-star terminal index of €145 and a carcase weight figure of 30.5kg.
After a flurry of bids, he was acquired by the O'Sullivan family in Co Kerry for their large suckler enterprise at €11,800.
It was a brilliant day at the office for the Mulligan family, as they also received €5,300 for the reserve junior champion Currycramp Adam.
Reserve senior champion
At €10,200 was the reserve senior champion Skehana Vinny, from the Ballinasloe-based herd of Martin Hansberry.
An 18-month-old son of Loyal and the Plumtree Fantastic daughter Skehana Raquel, this flashy bull is a double carrier of the F94L gene.
Displaying a four-star terminal index of €150 and a five-star replacement index of €143, he was snapped up by Galway-based farmer John Rooney.

Auctioneers Darren Hession and George Candler were inundated with bids for the championship winners, as the overall junior champion Faughill Versace rocked his way to €9,500 for Leitrim-based breeder Charlie Clancy.
Just over 15 months old, he is a son of Tomschoice Lexicon and Faughill Joy, a Wilodge Cerberus daughter going back to Nenuphar.
Not only did he wear the championship ribbons, he also offered buyers a tremendous set of figures, ranking in the top 20% of the breed across terminal, replacement and dairy-beef.
Picking up this double-F94L carrier was Galway-based suckler farmer Trevor Corcoran.

Slieve Pablo son
Sean Garrett from Co Mayo realised €7,800 for his Slieve Pablo-sired bull Ammaghmore Vodka.
Homebred on his mother's side and going back to Loyal and Wilodge Cerberus, this October 2024-born bull boasted a page of stars and well-below average calving figures.
A second-prizewinner in his class and carrying two copies of the profit gene, he will now join Paddy and Noel Creaven's suckler holding in Co Galway.
Up next at €7,500 was another second-prizewinner Drumline Anthony ET, the property of James Hannon from Co Clare.
A son of Aughalion Prince ET, his dam Wood Road Jasmine ET is the mother of Dovea's highly rated AI sire Drumline S1185.
He also came with a massive set of figures, with stars across the page for most traits. Offering two copies of the F94L gene, this young 15-month-old bull was knocked down to Joe O'Toole from Co Tipperary.
Females
In the heifer ring, Brendan O'Shea from Co Laois clinched the overall female championship with Templequain Violet, which went on to sell for €5,500.
Born in July 2024, Violet is a daughter of Templequain Travis and going back to a Lodge Hamlet-bred cow.
Packing a five-star terminal index of €152 and two copies of the F94L gene, she went home with Terence Godwin from Co Galway.

Brendan also received €5,200 for the third-prize heifer Templequain Vanilla ET. A daughter of Derrygulliane Kingbull and Templequain Melody, a Plumtree Fantastic daughter, Vanilla carries copies of the F94L and the NT821 genes and will now join David Byrne's herd in Co Kildare.
Cross production
Tom Feehan of the Cross herd based in Co Mayo presented 10 heifers at the sale in a special consignment. One of the society’s longest-serving members, having purchased his first pedigree Limousin in 1989, it attracted significant interest from new and existing breeders.
Leading Tom's charge at €7,400 was Cross Valerie, a daughter of Tomschoice Lexicon and the Queenshead Altea daughter Cross Sally. Born in August 2024, this double-F94L carrier sold as a maiden to a herd in Co Mayo.
The 30-month-old Cross Uri was next best at €7,000. A daughter of Vagabond, this high-index heifer had stars in abundance, as well as two copies of the F94L gene and sold in-calf to a Hirohito son.
