Celebrate country lifestyle as Gaeilge with Blueway Art Studio in Narraghmore, Co Kildare. Artist Angelina Foster came up with this hand-drawn illustration whilst babysitting her tarracóir-obsessed nephews. With the t-shirt, she designed the rounded font of tarracóir to complement the wheels in a fresh, colourful style. “The Irish language is one of the oldest languages in the world, I take this expressive heritage and style it as contemporary, progressive and fun,” says Angelina. Cillíní
By Marian Dalton,
Borris,Co Carlow
Around rural Ireland they stand The Cillínís
Burial grounds reserved for those born still.
Laid to rest at night
By lantern light
No tombstone would ever show their story
But gentle breezes whisper their names
The stars at night a candle flame.
Bird song at dawn and dusk
Amongst the trees and flowering shrubs
Lull them in their gentle sleep
Those of whom we did not speak.
And so the Cillínís stand
A reminder of a darker time
When for those babes no bells did chime.
