Shoulder and back pain continue to be a problem among dairy farmers, leading to burnout and forced retirements from the milking parlour.
Most farmers who I see milking do so incorrectly, using the same hand to attach clusters at each side of the parlour.
There will be a demo on using the correct milking technique at Dairy Day on Thursday.
This is one of six sessions on essential skills to be a dairy farmer, with each session repeated morning and evening at Punchestown Event Centre.
