The year is finishing on a strong note for land sales.

PN O’Gorman in New Ross, Co Wexford, auctioned three non-residential parcels of land last week and did well.

All auctions were held outdoors on the land, with all social distancing precautions in place.

The first was 25ac at Haggard, Ramsgrange, which was auctioned on the land on Tuesday.

The land, all in permanent pasture, was offered in one lot.

Bidding opened at €200,000 and moved along with two bidders to €280,000.

At that point, it was put on the market and sold to a local farmer for €315,000. This was €12,600 per acre.

There was one bidder for the 11ac at Ramstown, Fethard-On-Sea, and - following negotiations after the auction - that person bought the land.

The second parcel to go under the hammer was 11ac at Ramstown, Fethard-On-Sea, which was sold on Wednesday.

There was one bid of €80,000 on the property.

Following discussions with the bidder, a sale was agreed immediately after the auction.

Finally, the auctioneers sold 46.5ac at Gusserane, New Ross, on Friday. The holding was offered in four lots initially and bidding was as follows:

  • Lot 1, which was 9ac, attracted one opening bid of €100,000.
  • Lot 2, which was 16ac, received a bid of €160,000.
  • Lot 3, which was 11.5ac, was bid to €120,000.
  • Lot 4, which was 9.7ac, attracted several bids and went to €160,000.
  • The sum of these bids was €540,000. The auctioneers then moved on to the entire.

There was an opening bid of €550,000. Two bidders then brought it to €600,000, at which point it went on the market.

It was sold at €615,000 to a local farmer. This was €13,225 per acre.
