A special documentary on the life of Irish politician and farmer, Paddy Finucane, will be screened in Clounmacon Community Centre, Co Kerry, this Friday, 4 April, at 8pm. Paddy Finucane spent more time in Dáil Eireann than most, 26 years representing his constituency of North Kerry from 1943 until 1969. The documentary, Father and Son, by filmmaker Leo Finucane, dives into the key moments of the former Clann na Talmhan TD’s life, including the time he resigned from the party over the treatment of dairy farmers. Tickets are €10, and there’ll be refreshments on the night. The event is supported by Kerry Writers Museum and the Irish Heritage Council. It’s a chance to step back in time and learn more about a man who shaped Irish farming and politics.

Happy Out by Jonathan Roth
You’re in good form
Sure why wouldn’t I be?
I’ve a spring in my step
For all the world to see.
I’m full with gratitude
And a positive attitude.
I don’t have to bite my nails
I’m like a dog with two tails.
God gave me lots of talents
Life’s trick is finding balance.
No point being unhappy
I try to be a happy chappie.
Days come when life is tough
Like a golfer in the rough.
March on and don’t complain
Happy days will come again.
All in all I won’t give out
I just go out and have a stout.
For many no
money is a curse
I’m as full as a doctor’s purse.
In Mayo they often shout
Come on for a
pint, let’s go out.
If things were any better
I would be giving out!
