Tickets to see legendary Irish rock band Bagatelle, who take to the stage at Monroe’s in Galway next Saturday, 16 January. The Wicklow band is well known for popular hits such as Second Violin, Leeson Street Lady, and perhaps their most loved song, Summer in Dublin. And see Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf in the Gaiety Theatre if you didn’t get a chance to over Christmas. Extra performances have been added due to phenomenal demand, and the show is now running until 24 January. Legendary panto dame Joe Conlon, who celebrates his 26th year in the industry, plays the notorious Granny McGregor, and is joined by Hayley-Jo Murphy as Little Red Riding Hood, Shane McDaid as Woody and Nicholas Grennell as The Big Bad Wolf. Walk

The Christmas pudding off in Kilkenny city this weekend with RTÉ’s Operation Transformation. This is the sixth year running for the annual 5km walk in association with Kilkenny Recreation & Sports Partnership and the Irish Sports Council, taking place on Saturday, 9 January. Over 12,000 people took part in the national walks in 2015, which are a great way of promoting walking as a fun way to get and stay active. These walks are followed by a nine-week fitness-led walking programme in all areas. The walk in Kilkenny starts at Canal Square at 11am.

The world of science at The RDS Primary Science Fair in Mary Immaculate College, Limerick, next weekend, 15-16 January. The fair will feature an exhibition of science projects from 30 primary schools and a specially-designed educational entertainment programme that will include large-scale science shows, workshops and interactive exhibits for children and families. Programme highlights include The Ugly Animal Roadshow, The Science of Juggling, and The Gravity Go-Cart Showdown. The fair will be open for visitors from 10am to 3pm daily. The fair expanded to Limerick this year to cater for more primary schools.
