The 27.8ac property in question is at Ballyvaloo, Blackwater, Co Wexford, and includes a derelict farmhouse. It was sold in three lots and guided in the region of €275,000 ahead of the auction. The auction returned a substantial sale of €521,000, or €18,741/ac.

Interest was strong ahead of the auction and this manifested itself on the day with about 15 parties registering to bid. Auctioneer David Quinn got proceedings underway with lot 1 – the house and 1.8ac.

The derelict house is surrounded by a courtyard-type area with a number of small farm buildings. All are in need of some work but offer plenty of potential. It opened at €40,000 and a flurry of bids saw it reach €111,000.

The property was declared “on the market” at €155,000 and one further bid saw the gavel fall at €160,000.

The holding at Ballyvaloo, Blackwater, Co Wexford, has an old farmhouse.

Bidding for lot 2 (circa 25.3ac) followed a similar pattern to lot 1. It commenced at €150,000 and with four interested parties involved it reached €310,000 before it went on the market. It finally sold for €325,000.

Lot 3 was a 0.65ac field across the road from lot 1. It sold for €36,000.
