The Salers Cattle Society will have a variety of cows on display this year. A selection of females, including a pedigree Salers cow with a Charolais calf at foot will be present, along with a half-bred Salers cow with Simmental twin calves. Salers animals and their cross calves with other continental breeds have always been a big attraction. It is a great chance for farmers to talk to the breeders and learn how to use the Salers breed best on their farm. Members of the council will be available to answer any questions attendees might have.
The Salers for Suckling journal will be available for free. This is a 60-page book all about Salers, with articles and photos from farmers using the breed and showing why it might be the choice for you.
A raffle will take place on the final day for a two-year-old pedigree Salers heifer, (valued at €2,000) or €1,500 cash. Tickets cost €2 each or three tickets for €5, and are available at the stand or from any Salers member over the three days.
