Freshford, Co Kilkenny, parcel fetches €13,000/acre
Selling agent Joe Coogan, Castlecomer, kicked off the year with a good start when he offered 14 acres situated near Freshford, Co Kilkenny, for sale by auction last week.
The land went on to fetch over €13,000/acre. Laid out in three fields of permanent pasture, the land is described as “prime quality” and bidding opened at €150,000. With just two customers in contention, the sale price quickly moved up to €183,000, at which stage it was declared on the market and sold to a dairy farmer from the Tullaroan area. This works out at €13,071/acre, which represents a strong price for the area. The underbidder was a solicitor acting in trust.
