Gardaí in Co Tipperary have warned tractor drivers to always check the height of their loads following a bridge strike in Cahir, Co Tipperary.

A tractor and trailer carrying bales of straw collided with the railway bridge in the town.

At least four bales were dislodged from the trailer and the remaining load disturbed. No one was hurt in the incident.

The bales were stacked three-high on the trailer and hit the bridge, which has a height restriction of 4.57m.

Posting the image of the aftermath on social media, Gardaí in Tipperary warned drivers to always check the height of loads and be aware of restrictions.

“Ring the Gardaí if you see any unstable loads,” they advised other drivers.

Later in the day, AA Roadwatch reported a hay bale on the Sallins-Clane road in Co Kildare.
