Glanbia has announced an increased milk price for suppliers in September.
Suppliers in the Republic of Ireland will receive a base milk price of 29.4c/l excluding VAT for milk supplied last month at 3.6% butterfat and 3.3% protein. In effect, it’s a 0.4c/l lift in August milk price.
This includes a support payment from Glanbia co-op of 0.42c/l excluding VAT. Glanbia said the actual average price paid by Glanbia for September creamery milk, based on delivered constituents, will be 36.2c/l.
Meanwhile, Kerry Group has maintained its base price for September milk at 29.4c/l excluding VAT.
Average paid out price for Kerry in September will be 35.2c/l excluding VAT at co-op solids and including all bonuses.
Lakeland Dairies was the first processor to set September milk price. Suppliers in the Republic of Ireland will receive 30.36c/l excluding VAT for milk supplied last month.
Continued impact
Glanbia Ireland chair John Murphy said: “Overall, dairy consumption and exports have been resilient with prices reasonably steady.
“However, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact on global markets and global economies, particularly in the foodservice sector.”

Kerry Agribusiness’s Forward Price Scheme is available to milk suppliers for online application and will close at 2pm on Wednesday 21 October.
The Offer Price is confirmed at 30.36c/l from March to October 2021 excluding VAT for milk supplied at 3.6% butterfat and 3.3% protein. The maximum volume that can be applied for is 30% of a supplier’s annual contracted milk volume.
