USA – beef exports fall in 2019

Beef exports from the US, which is the world’s largest beef exporter, stood at just over 1.3m tonnes for 2019, which was down 2.5% on 2018 exports. The total value of US beef exports in 2019 is estimated at $8.1bn (€7.4bn).

China – soya imports set to rise

In the latest world supply and demand report, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has increased its forecast for Chinese soya bean imports in 2020 by 3m tonnes to a new forecast of 88m tonnes, despite the pressures of coronavirus.

Brazil – soya harvest pegged higher

CONAB, the Brazilian grain market analyst, has lifted its forecast for soya bean production in Brazil for 2020 to a record forecast of 123m tonnes. The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) is even more optimistic, forecasting Brazil to produce 125m tonnes of soya beans.

Poland – milk production continues to grow

According to the latest figures from Eurostat, Polish milk production for 2019 stood at 11.8bn litres – a 2% increase year on year. After a very strong start to 2019, Polish milk production growth eased off in the summer months before it picked up pace again in October to finish the year strongly.
