The IHFA ploughing stand will exhibit Holstein Friesian cows that represent the examples of the quality of the breed for spring-calving grazing systems in Ireland.

There will be seven cows that represent the diversity of genetics within the breed, from Pure Friesian, to high EBI, to pure Holstein.

This year, four of the cows present will be dams of high-EBI bulls in Irish AI studs. IHFA herds are the source for the majority of high-EBI bulls in Ireland and this is a fantastic opportunity for farmers to view the dams of many of the bulls they will have available to them for the next breeding season. There will be a public vote to award the title of IHFA bull dam of the year.

Tobermartin Perseus Lady VG88, EBI €288, the dam of Tobermartin Francis.

The AI companies represented are those that partake in the Gene Ireland programme and the LIFT linear scoring programme, namely Dovea Genetics, Eurogene, Munster Bovine and Progressive Genetics.
