5 April 2014: Phil O'Brien happy after another year's sowing. Malting barley has been sown in this field in Athy for generations. Phil is supplying Boortmalt in Athy, Co Kildare.

12 April 2014: Suckler and sheep farmer Justin Linnane of Belharbour, Co Clare, letting out bullocks to grass. Slurry and fertilizer was applied in early March and Justin was happy with grass growth. The Bullocks were to be sold live in the Autumn.

26 April 2014: Contractor David Kinsella, Gorey, sowing Pioneer 7905 and Justina maize under plastic for Sylvester Bourke at Arklow, Co. Wicklow. The field received 10t of dung and 6,000 gallons of slurry per acre before sowing. A further 2.5 bags of urea was incorporated into the seed bed. Sylvester has pre-sold 40 acres of the crop to a local dairy farmer.
