Shalvey was carrying out the record attempt as part of RTÉ’s hugely successful Big Week on the Farm.
Shalvey attempted the record last week but while he completed it and was happy with the attempt, the attempt had to be verified.
Shalvey reversed from Lisgrey House in Virginia to Poles Co-op, on the Dubin road out of Cavan town – a massive 20km.
The previous record was held by Kerry native Eamonn Hickson. He reversed from Dingle to Annascaul, a total of 17.5km, back in 2014
Speaking after the attempt last week Shalvey said: “It seemed to go very well but it can’t be verified until next week … by Guinness. It seemed to go very well, we had no stops on it. We didn’t have to stop and go forward at any point. I’m happy enough that it was done … it was 20.1km I was told. I’m very happy that it’s done,” he said
