The sale was dominated by Angus and Charolais bulls.
The trade was quite strong for all good-quality bulls, and mart manager Billy Loftus said the clearance rate at the sale was over 80%, which was quite good for a multi-breed pedigree sale.
Angus bulls were met with quite strong demand.
Angus
In total, there were more than 40 Angus bulls entered into the sale. The average price paid for Angus bulls was €2,000, with prices topping out at €2,500. This was paid for a top-quality September 2015-born bull, shown by Derek Hannick, Cloghans, Ballina.
This bull was sired by Goulding Jumbo King, and out of Ardnaree Jacinta with back breeding going back to Coney Island Legend.
Charolais
There were about 45 Charolais bulls entered in to the sale, with the average price running at €2,300. The top price Charolais was €3,600, which was paid for a locally bred bull, owned by Frank Howley, Carraun, Corballa, Co Sligo.
The top price bull was Castleconnor Marvin, a Fiston son and out of Castleconnor Elisa, a cow sired by Pirate.
The top price at the sale was €3,700, which was paid for a top-quality, well-conformed five-star Limousin bull.
