There’s a chance of a tornado in the Sligo region next month, according to Ken Ring, the long-distance weather forecaster from New Zealand.
In his monthly forecast for August, he says that on 16 August there’s a “chance of a tornado in the Sligo region”.
Better lock up the cattle and sheep and prepare for it. Nothing worse than a tornado in August.
Rainfall
In general, the month will be a dry one, with 20% less rainfall than in typical for August.
Ulster and Leinster can expect around 20-25% less rainfall than the norm, and Connacht 30-35% less.
In Munster, however, farmers can expect average rainfall amounts. Those in west Munster can expect it to be much wetter – by about 50%.
Temperatures
On the temperature front, we can expect a marginally warmer August, with temperatures forecast to be up by 1.3 degrees Celsius.
There’s also 36% more sunshine hours likely next month for the country as a whole.
