In pictures: 250 lots go under the hammer at Portlaoise auction

Some 250 lots of machinery were on offer at Hennessy Auctioneers' April sale at Portlaoise Mart, which took place on Saturday, 21 April.

On the day there was a large variety of farm machinery equipment up for auction.

Despite the substantial crowd, trade was poor and many lots did not even register bids.

According to Hennessy Auctioneers, the poor trade was due to the main monthly buyers taking advantage of the break in the weather and doing fieldwork.

The condition of the machinery on offer varied greatly, with most lots in working order.

On the day of the auction all lots were sold subject to a 5% commission from both the seller and purchaser. This applied on all items that sold for values up to €10,000. On top of this 23% VAT was applied to the commission charged by the auctioneer.

Hardi Command sprayer.

This Hardi command sprayer with 21m booms sold for €9,000.

Workcage.

This workcage sold for €400.

Land roller.

This land roller was bought for €800.

Ford 7610.

This 1987 Ford 7610, with no tax book and in need of a clean up, sold for €5,250.

Keenan 140 diet feeder.

This Keenan 140 diet feeder, in working order but in need of a clean up, was bid to €575

Tuffmac flatbed trailer 8ft.

This 2007 8ft Tuffmac flatbed trailer, in very good condition, sold for €2,100.

The 1995 Valmet 8100.

This 1995 Valmet 8100, with 12,300 hours, was bid to €5,000 but did not meet its reserve.

500cc quad.

This 500cc quad in mint condition sold for €2,200.

Hitachi EX 75.

This Hitatchi EX 75, with 6,000 hours on the clock, reached €10,500 but is still under offer.

Welger 200 baler.

This Welger 200 baler sold for €1,500.

Class

This Claas Disco 8550 butterfly mower sold for €6,150.

Class butterfly mower.

This Armer Salmon five-row beet seeder sold for €3,500.
