After much anticipation, the JN Contracts timed online clearance auction ended on Wednesday 21 January.
The auction was held by Mid Ulster Auctions on behalf of the Co Fermanagh-based contracting firm.
The auction was instructed as result of a “business restructure”, and was the second held by the JN in just five years, when the fleet was sold in a similar manner in January 2021 before being repopulated.
Comprising over 90 lots, the catalogue was mainly made up of modern John Deere, New Holland and Massey Ferguson tractors, along with a range of grass and slurry equipment.
Irish Farmers Journal followed the sale proceedings as each lot came to a close, taking note of the closing prices of some of the more major lots as each ended in one-minute intervals. All prices quoted are subject to VAT and commission.
Commission was due to be charged at 15% on lots up to £5,000, 10% on lots between £5,001 and £10,000 and 5% on all hammer prices between £10,001 and £49,999.
Lots over £50,000 were subject to 3% commission. All commission was also subject to VAT. For reference we have also included prices in euro (€1.15 = £1).
Looking at the larger silage gear first, a 2019 Claas Jaguar 870 with 3,164 working hours and 2,211 cutting hours was unsold at £117,000 (€134,978) and remains under offer. A 2015 Claas Jaguar 870 with 3,272 working hours sold at £90,000 (€103,829).

A 2021 JCB 419S with 2,659 hours sold for £93,000 (€107,290) while the second loading shovel, a 2017 JCB 435S was bid to £66,000 (€76,141) and remains under offer.
Tractors
Kicking off the New Holland tractors was a 2020 T7.210 AutoCommand model with 5,348 hours which sold for £50,500 (€58,260), followed by a 2023 T7.195S with 1,847 hours which sold for £65,000 (€74,988).
This 2014 New Holland T7.210, with 5,800 hours, secured a price of £34,000, plus VAT and fees.
A 2014 T7.210 PowerCommand model with 5,800 hours sold at £34,000 (€39,224) and a 1996 8260 sold at £16,300 (€18,804). Meanwhile, a 2013 T7.260 with 7,339 hours was unsold at £30,000 (€34,609).
Moving on to the John Deeres, a 2014 7250R with 5,396 hours sold at £58,500 (€67,489), followed by two identical 2022 6155Rs with 3,900 hours, one of which sold at £68,500(€79,026) and the other closed at £68,000 (€78,449) with no sale.

Five 18T Kane silage trailers, two 2020 Classic models and three 2019 Half Pipe models all sold.
The Classic models sold for £10,900 (€12,574) and £12,300 (€14,190) respectively, while the Half Pipes sold at £16,000 (€18,458), £16,100 (€18,574) and £16,600 (€19,150). Two 2024 Johnston 18ft silage trailers with hydraulic rear doors were sold at £15,100 (€17,401) each. A 2025 Kuhn GA13231 four-rotor rake secured a price of £60,000 (€69,219). A 2023 Claas Liner 2900 twin-rotor rake was unsold at £22,600 (€26,072). A 2021 Claas Disco 9200C rear butterfly mower was sold at £42,200 (€48,684). A 2009 Vicon RF2235 round baler was hotly contested as bidding neared a close, selling for £7,300 (€8,421).

A 2022 AgQuip 12m umbilical dribble bar and hosing sold at £29,200 (€33,687) and a 2020 AgQuip 9m dribble bar was unsold at £7,000 (€8,075). A Slurry Master front reeler complete with approximately 400m of hose was also hard fought in the final minutes, eventually selling for £6,250 (€7,210). A 2019 Spread Point SP-600 single axle lime spreader was unsold at £24,000 (€27,687).
