Southeast Massey Ferguson dealer Gordon Hegarty and Sons is set to open a new depot outside Athy, Co Kildare, from early 2021. This builds on its existing branches in Tullow, Co Carlow, and Clifden, Co Kilkenny.

The dealerships supply and service the entire Massey Ferguson product range which includes tractors, balers, and combines. It is believed the company will continue to serve the counties of Carlow, Kilkenny and South Kildare.

Now with a depot in each of these three counties, Hegarty’s will continue to support both existing and future customers while carrying existing brands such as Kverneland Group Ireland and HiSpec to its new Athy premises. The Irish Farmers Journal understands Hegarty’s will now take on the additional territory of south Kildare for the brands under Kverneland Group Ireland.

The new premises is located 3.5km outside Athy on the main Kilcullen road.

Jason Hegarty said: “Renovations of our new premises are due to start in the coming weeks. The Athy branch will provide sales, service and spares from what will be a fully-fledged workshop, showroom and parts store. We will have the premises stocked and fully opened by the start of March, with a dedicated team of technicians, sales and store personal.”

Fifty-two years in business, Hegarty’s became a Deutz-Fahr dealer in 1977, before taking on the Massey Ferguson franchise in 2018.
