The women in farming movement continues to grow at a rapid pace, with the creation of two more groups in Munster and the northwest.
Meitheal na mBan – Rural Women (Munster) is a group for rural and farming women living in the Munster area and beyond, set up by women Tipperary and Kerry coming together to share their own experiences.
The founders of the group are Catherine Guest and Mary Ryan from Tipperary together with Joan Collins, Sheila Crowley, Patricia Kelliher and Eileen Moynihan from Kerry.
The Munster women have invited all rural women to attend the group’s first seminar ‘Help Create a Voice’ on Tuesday 21 March.
Taking place in the Woodlands House Hotel, Adare, Co Limerick, the seminar will commence at 7.30pm, with registration from 7pm. The keynote speaker will be Ann Fitzgerald of the Farming Independent.
For further details and information on how to join the Munster meitheal, contact Sheila on 087-268 8989 or Mary on 087-766 7040.
Meanwhile, a new group in the northwest of the country is also attracting new members by the day.
UCD graduate Hannah McNelis from Donegal is one of the group’s organisers and says the aim is to bring a like-minded community together and showcase how important female farmers are to the industry.
