A group of 11 MEPs from the European Parliament’s agriculture committee visited Tullamore Farm on Wednesday.
They were welcomed with the Irish tradition of tea and homemade bread, during which Adam Woods explained the purpose of the farm and the partnership between the land owners and the Irish Farmers Journal, which operates the farm.
There was a wide-ranging discussion on issues facing Irish farmers and experienced by Tullamore Farm as well.
The past year has presented the full range of weather challenges right up to and including storm Ali yesterday.
The MEPs demonstrated a good understanding of the implications of Brexit for Irish farmers and committee chair Czeslaw Siekier, in his podcast, emphasised that the EU would stand behind Irish farmers whatever happened in Brexit.
