The Macra na Feirme/Ornua dairy stockjudging title is heading to Carbery this year after Patrick Deasy of Ballinascarthy Macra was crowned champion at the Irish Holstein Friesian Association open day in Freemount, Co Cork.
Mary Moran from Termonfeckin Macra, Co Louth, was runner-up in the senior competition while in the under-23 section, Stephen Shannon of Ballinascarthy Macra, Carbery, came out on top to ensure a clean sweep for the Carbery club with Donal Coppinger from Caltra Macra in Galway finishing second.
Speaking afterwards, Thomas Duffy, Macra na Feirme president said: “It was fantastic to see so many participants on the day from all over the country and having it during the IHFA open day adds to the prestige of this event. I would like to congratulate all who took part and sincerely thank our excellent hosts, the IHFA, and our sponsors, Ornua, for their ongoing support.”
