For the third year in a row, the streets of Currow, Co Kerry, will light up on Sunday 29 December with a tractor run in aid of the Jack and Jill Foundation.
Open to all modes of transport, the run is kicking off at 12pm.
The event is organised by the Daly family, who were devastated at the loss of their 32-year-old son Aidan in a farm accident on 16 January 2017.
According to his mother Rose, they wanted to find a way to honour his memory and raise money for charity while bringing the community together.
“Aidan was passionate about farming and cared a lot about his friends. He was obsessed with all types of machinery and purchased a John Deere tractor; the family joke was that it was ‘his baby’.
"We wanted to keep his memory alive because he brought so much joy to us, but also to his friends. With his love for tractors, the family came up with this idea,” she said.

This is the third year bringing the community together for a day of hope and connection to help people and charities who need support.
In 2022, they raised over €16,000 for Embrace Farm and €10,000 for the Cancer Link bus the following year.
“There are so many charities out there and so many people in need. You have to make a conscious decision on what you think will help the people you know.
"In our area alone, there have been four or five farm accidents in the parish itself, which is shocking. You hope that if those people needed help, it would be there,” said Rose.
