On Friday 6 February, the Northern Ireland Hereford, Angus and Beef Shorthorn breeds held their first pedigree sale of 2026 in Dungannon Farmers Mart. Trade was solid across the board, with both the Angus and Hereford breeds reporting strong averages and clearances. Just one beef Shorthorn heifer was put forward for sale on the day, selling for 1,950gns (€2,349).
Angus
All six Angus bulls which went for auction found new homes, selling to an average of £5,127 (€5,882). Leading that trade was the champion Angus bull Drumhill Master Plan from the Cookstown based herd of Jonathan and Lisa Doyle. Born in August 2024, this Galcantray Jedi Eric son is out of the Water End Jackpot Eric daughter Schivas Morning Princess S340. Offering buyers some impressive 200-, 400-, and 600-day weight figures, he was knocked down to a Republic of Ireland buyer for 6,200gns (€7,469).
Hot on his heels was Coolermoney Robin A473, another August 2024-born bull, this time from the stable of Adrian Parke and family in Strabane. Sired by Rawburn Ernan W110, his mother Coolermoney Rosita T736 is a daughter of Ankonian Elixir 100. Above breed average for a number of traits, he exchanged hands at 5,200gns (€6,264).
Four out of the six Angus heifers in the yard found new residences, averaging £3,517 (€4,035). Heading up the prices at 4,000gns (€4,819) was the champion heifer, Drummeer Evie B031, from Alan Morrison in Co Fermanagh. Not one-year-old until April, she is a daughter of the herd’s stock bull, Lisduff Banjo Y020.

It was a great day for John and William McMordie, whose three bulls went away with the three leading prices. Topping the trade was the first bull into the ring, the 23-month-old Solpoll 1 Becker, a son of Herberry 1 Humberto out of the homebred dam, Amber S13. Backed up by easy calving genetics and having stood second in his class, he sold for 4,900gns (€5,902) to Messrs Heslip in Dungannon.
Following closely behind was judge Christopher McCrea’s pick for champion bull, Solpoll 1 Boris. Another son of Humberto, this 22-month-old bull comes from a long line of championship winning genetics and was the choice of K Hunter in Magherafelt at 4,600gns (€5,542).
Matching that price was the 21-month-old Solpoll 1 Bushmills. A son of Fabb 1 Top Prize, who sired the record priced bull in April 2025 at the same venue, he carries exceptional terminal figures and sold to F McGurk in Cookstown.
Mark and Lawrence Moore from Aughnacloy claimed the reserve champion with Annaghbeg Masala who went on to sell for 4,000gns (€4,819) to A Liggett in Clogher.
