The Road Safety Authority (RSA) and IFA have joined forces to urge road users to be aware of the increased use of agricultural machinery on roads during the summer weather.
A radio ad is being broadcast across national and local media reminding drivers and those driving agricultural vehicles to use common sense and drive responsibly.
There will be an increased number of tractors on the road over the summer months. If you are travelling behind farm machinery, please be patient, only overtake when it’s safe to do so. pic.twitter.com/souuOn8QlM

“This is a busy time of year for farmers. The number of tractors and trailers out using the roads will increase dramatically over the next few weeks,” the RSA stated.
“As a result the risk of a collision involving a road user and farm machinery will increase. All drivers need to be on the lookout for tractors, trailers and other farm machinery exiting from fields and farmyards. If you are travelling behind farm machinery, please be patient and only overtake when it’s safe to do so.”
