Beef producers continue to face trading challenges, with some factories trying to exert further downward pressure on the trade. A large percentage of steers and heifers are trading on a base of €3.90/kg and €4.00/kg respectively, with top prices 5c/kg higher.
IFA livestock chair Angus Woods said beef price cuts by factories were sending the wrong signals to winter finishers and damaging confidence.
