The Dealer was trawling though some planning applications when I came across a notable one; a new greenfield dairy site in north Mayo.
The proposed cubicle shed spans 3.3ac, with the adjoining rotary parlour, dairy and dry bedded sheds sitting under a 1.7-acre roof.
Silage pits, machinery, feed and storage sheds complete the proposed yard.
The proposed stock numbers are 300 dairy cows, 80 yearling cattle and 80 calves, with ample slurry and soiled water accommodation to boot.
The proposed application was submitted to Mayo County Council by Hillcrest Abbey Farming Ltd, owned by London-based building tycoon Martin Carey.
No doubt Carey is capable of handling large projects so the scale of this rural development should prove little issue to him.
