Last year was a busy one for the Buitelaar Group, The Dealer notes. The group, with roots in Castledermot, Co Kildare, was primarily involved in the live export of calves in the past.

It now provides what it describes as “higher welfare beef supply chain solutions” to customers, with a focus on “Irish and British beef and rosé veal”. It increased its footprint in Britain again last year with the purchase of a 50% share in Sheffield-based, family-owned Woolley Brothers.

Woolley Brothers has the capacity to process up to 2,000 cattle per week with customers spanning retail, wholesale, and food service markets across Britain and Europe.
