With chair John Murphy, who survived a local challenge in 2024, serving his last three-year term on the board, keep an eye on a couple of high-profile new additions. Jim Mulhall is vice chair of Agri-Aware, has been a chair of the Fresh Milk Producers (FMP), has also chaired Kilkenny IFA, and is a close confidante of IFA president Francie Gorman.
Meath man Denis Fagan has also chaired FMP and Macra’s Ag Affairs committee.
By May, no fewer than three former FMP chairs will be among the 14 farmer directors on Tirlán’s board – Mulhall, Fagan and Larry Hannon, although fellow former FMP chair Eamon McEnteggart is retiring.
Rare thing
Interestingly, the south Wexford region has elected that rare thing: a non-dairy farming board member, although Raheen tillage farmer David O’Dwyer is converting to dairy.
