2013 was the year where the Irish Farmers Journal created its own YouTube channel, FarmersJournal.tv, featuring videos shot and edited by our team.
The channel now has over 150 videos, 360,000 views and almost 1,200 subscribers.
The top five most popular videos on the channel (based on view count) this year have been:
1. Zero-grazing system at the Harpur farm in Bessbrook (128,463 views)
This is Jack Kennedy’s video of the zero-grazing system at the Harpur family’s dairy farm in Bessbrook which was the venue for the Ulster Grassland Society’s Spring Visit last May.
2. John Deere F440 balers (15,728 views)
This is Michael Moroney’s video from last August of the John Deere F440 baler in action.
3. Massey Ferguson 5610 tractor test (15,339 views)
Another machinery video from August, this time Michael Moroney was putting a Massey Ferguson 5610 through its paces.
4. Almarai Al Badiah farm in Saudi Arabia (12,631 views)
This video is from November when news editor Pat O’Keeffe visited the Almarai Al Badiah farm in Saudi Arabia which has 22,500 milking cows.
5. Review of the Krone Big X 1100 (12,364 views)
Michael Moroney reviewed the Krone Big X 1100 which is the highest power silage harvester to work on Irish land.
